Although January is already well underway, it’s not too late to wish everyone a happy new year – and what a way to begin 2026 for Tweed Togs!
We ended 2025 on a real high, with our end-of-year figures confirming that we delivered 476 clothing parcels – our busiest year yet. With demand continuing to rise, we’re wondering whether 2026 might be the year we pass the 500-parcel milestone.
The new year has also marked a major step forward for the charity. On 9 January, Tweed Togs moved into its own dedicated premises at Cavalry Park, Peebles – complete with our very own front door! This move represents an important milestone, giving us the space we need to organise, store and prepare clothing parcels more efficiently, and helping us to better meet the growing needs of families across the Scottish Borders.
To celebrate these achievements, and to recognise the people who make everything we do possible, the trustees hosted a special Afternoon Tea for our volunteers and supporters. The event was a chance to pause, reflect and say thank you to the incredible community whose time, generosity and commitment underpin the success of Tweed Togs.
The celebration was made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the generosity of Neidpath Castle, which provided a truly stunning venue for the afternoon.
Lucy Carter, Chair of Tweed Togs, said:
“This afternoon tea was our way of saying thank you to the volunteers and supporters who make everything we do possible. Every parcel we provide is the result of many hours of donated time, care and kindness, but it all starts with the generosity of local people who donate good-quality pre-loved children’s clothing. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gives so thoughtfully, as well as to the National Lottery Community Fund and Neidpath Castle for helping us mark this special moment.”
We were also delighted to welcome our Patron, Suzanne Mulholland (The Batch Lady), who joined us for the celebration and visited our new premises. Suzanne reflected on the care that goes into every parcel and the importance of dignity at the heart of the service:
“At its heart, Tweed Togs is about dignity. I have seen first-hand how children’s clothes are carefully sorted, washed, ironed and beautifully packaged into age-appropriate bundles, ensuring every child receives not just clothing but a message that they are valued and cared for. Tweed Togs’ new premises are clear proof of an organisation that is growing and working exceptionally well, quietly supporting children and families at a time when itis needed most.”
Support from the National Lottery Community Fund has played a vital role in strengthening Tweed Togs’ work and enabling us to reflect on how far we have come. As referrals continue to rise, our volunteers and supporters remain firmly focused on our core aim: ensuring that no child in the Scottish Borders is held back because they lack suitable clothing.
